December 22, 2010

Due to the lack of songs yesterday, here are 4 great tunes that I'm currently listening to.

The Roots - The Fire (Featuring John Legend)
Artist: The Roots
Song Title: The Fire
Genre: Hip Hop
Description: A great hip hop song by The Roots and John Legend. The song is about inspiration and the drive to succeed and every element supports this. Black Thought and John Legend make a great combination on the track, providing just the right amount of soul mixed with great lyrics and a great beat made by ?uestlove.

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Jackson's Last Stand (Rack & Ruin Remix)
Artist: Ou Est Le Swimming Pool
Song Title: Jackson's Last Stand (Rack & Ruin Remix)
Genre: Drum & Bass
Description: The original song is also something to check out, but I personally prefer the remix that Rack & Ruin have come out with. The vocals of the lead singer of 'Ou Est Le Swimming Pool' works well with the DnB elements that Rack & Ruin have added. Simply making the song slightly faster and adding more instrumental elements than the original makes this song a great listen.

Aceyalone & RJD2 - Supahero
Artist: Aceyalone & RJD2
Song Title: Supahero
Genre: Hip Hop
Description: I can't get enough of RJD2. His production skills are ridiculously good and he is by far one of the best producers in the hip hop 'game'. Honestly, every time I listen to this song I don't even listen to the lyrics because I'm completely taken in by the beat. But if you do make the effort to listen to the lyrics, they're not bad. In fact, they're actually pretty good and Aceyalone's rapping style or 'flow' if you will fits the beat perfectly to create a great unison and a great song in general.

Carte Blanche - Do! Do! Do! (Featuring Kid Sister) (Laidback Luke Remix)
Artist: Carte Blanche
Song Title: Do! Do! Do! (Featuring Kid Sister) (Laidback Luke Remix)
Genre: Electro
Description: Although Laidback Luke has come out with some absolutely brilliant songs in the past, I feel a compulsion to say that the majority of the songs that he remixes have the same formula. The 'drops' in his songs generally consist of taking a certain part of the song and changing the pitch along with heavy bass. Sometimes this formula really doesn't work, but this time it has. Laidback Luke really comes hard on this track, creating an guaranteed club hit. This will definitely have you jumping out of your chair.

That's all Folks!

Peace.
